TV resolution / swapping a SKY box
Discussion
I bought a new 42" TV recently, and the picture is terrible on it. I came from a 32" CRT'ish TV that was doing fine for years, but I fancied something bigger
I get my signal from a Sky (Panasonic) unit, and thats quite old as well. I get the impression that it can't scale to the resolution that the TV wants to run at. If I was to try and put into words what the picture is like, imagine a crappy lo-res jpeg image blown up so that it's all jagged
The XBOX picture is spot on, as is the DVD player.
So can I just swap to a new SKY box from ebay or similar? I don't have a Sky subscription anymore if thats relevent

I have a 32" panasonic set and some SD programmes are pretty poor, others are much better.
I have an old VCR/DVD combo (connected via SCART) and a new BluRay player (connected via HDMI). The picture from DVDs played on the BluRay player is vastly superior compared to playing the same disc on the DVD player.
To take advantage of dish and TV you need and HD set-top box connected using HDMI.

Which I'm fine with if I can buy a set top Sky box either new or previously enjoyed without subscription, I don't know if thats possible though. The other option would be to get an aerial put back on the roof I guessGassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
