Headlight replacement
Discussion
My 94 Chim headlights are badly corroded. The auto electrician said that I should get a set of classic mini headlight (Halo effect).
Can anyone confirm that these will do the job?

Will get back in touch with the auto electrician....perhaps it is possible to remove the glass from the sealed headlamp and use the existing glass?
A classic Mini sealed beam unit is basically a 7" diameter bulb with three lucar terminals sticking out of the back of it, is this what you are referring to?The later Carello types were similar but not sealed beams, both parts bonded together and no way would they come apart.
Had some fun and games concerning headlights/reflectors a couple of years ago.
No matter where i tried. including all the local motor factors, eurocarparts and plenty of the larger well known companys on the t"internet i could not scource the headlamp reflectors. I was quoting the relevant bosch part no and was eventually told "bosch had stopped making them."
I had to use one of the TVR specific suppliers which came to about £55 to £60 per reflector inc delivery. OUCH
The interesting bit was upon inspection at delivery, they were identical to the originals, but had a different bosch part no. on the box. Im at work at the moment but will edit this posting this evening to include the "new" part no. Would suggest then that anyone requiring reflectors ring around a few motor factors to see if they are available and more importantly how much!
Edited as promised. Heres a link to a relevant post from last year.

This would be really handy - mine are starting to rust a bit... and I guess that'll be an MOT fail?Malcster said:

When I had my Chimaera, one of the MOT advisories was "h/lamp reflectors rusting/poor light output".I got new reflectors from my local motor factor....don't know if the Bosch part number quoted above is correct, but pretty sure I got it from the Chim web-site (can't remember address).
When I came to replace reflectors - I had the new reflectors and lenses, some sikaflex (221 ?)...but once into the job found the old adjustment screws pretty corroded. So, I'd reccommend you purchase a couple of these at least before tackling the job (bottom ones are usually worst). Pretty sure RaceTech Direct stock them.
