Am I smelling or do I smell exhaust fumes ?

Hi

I have noticed in my newly acquired Griff 500 that it seems to smell of exhaust fumes when I drive in it. Brought my daughter along and she said the same thing. My cloth also seems to smell slightly of exhaust. Is this a common issue. Is it linked to exhaust seals, any way of checking where it comes from ?

I also noticed that when I restart the engine when it is warm you can really smell petrol for some time.

This is a common problem and can occur even if there is nothing wrong with the car. There are however a number of solutions so don't get too despondent. You should start by doing a forum search because there has been a recent thread on this. Search under "fumes" and you should find it. Also, is your 500 modified as in , does it still have the catalysts in? Taking these out tends to increase the fumes somewhat.

The link seems to be down at the moment for maintenance. I fitted the boot scoops and it's made a huge difference when on the move. Still fumes when at a standstill with top down, but that's not unusual.
