Hi, wonder if any one can help, I have my Chiamera advertised on Auto trader and keep getting emails from suposedly interested parties, however they are not interested in seeing the car and offer me the full asking price with a third party to pick up the car as they are too buisy themselves (probably in Africa), they all seem to want to transfer the money via paypal.
I realise this is a scam, but does anyone know what it entails and how they would get money out of my paypal account.
I've just been deleting the messages.

Cheers

Your right, it is a scam. Best thing to do is delete the messages and report it to Auto Trader.

What they usually do is pay you a few grand too much "by mistake", then ask you to send them a cheque for the difference. By the time they have cleared your cheque their payment to you bounces (I'm not quite sure the how that bit works), leaving you out the money you refunded them.
They are not remotely interested in the car.

It is quite common, just google "autotrader scam".

Thanks fellas,
Think i'll stick it back on pistonheads again, I know its a bad time to be selling, to be honest I wont be that upset if it doesn't go, just means the misses will have to wait for a kitchen.

Yeh, I recently advertised a car on autotrader and kept getting calls from a dodgy company in London. I never answered the phone, but on checking the number on 'who's calling me.com' (or what ever it's called) it transpires this company call claiming to be the middle man for legit buyers and all you have to do is give your credit card details over to them, pay them £100 for their fee and they will put you in touch with the buyers! Yeh right nuts
