Hi PHers.
Thinking of heading to the Donnington Grand Prix collection this weekend, But i don't fancy driving 2 hours for a 2 hour walk around the collection as there is no racing on this weekend and then to drive home. I will do this if there's nothing else to do but after looking around i have found very little to do in or around derby. i will be departing from Wigan and don't mind making a slight detour to visit somewhere preferably automotive based but try me with suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,
Paul

Bubbles Spa & Sauna smile (Only walked past it, but very dodgy looking)

There is a brilliant curry house across from the hospital, guys in Traditional Indian Gear lurking about outside, encouraging people in, definitely worth it.

Erm....well...there's the A50, thats nice. And the M1, thats OK too. And you can watch planes coming in, or check out the power station. Or sit in the services

smile

You might be better heading in to Nottingham and having a wander around rather than Derby tbh, but up to you

Next to Donington there is the airport, which has a Vulcan and others you could look at

Derby itself has the Rolls Royce factory, an im pressive building last time I saw it.

A short drive further south will get you to Mallory, which does have car racing on this sunday

The dealer Tom Hartley is close by too, but you cant look round without an invite

Derby itself is a crap hole, but there is alot of nice things not to far from Derby such as the peaks http://www.visitpeakdistrict.com/see-and-do/attrac... , as for heading to nottingham there is not much there either, but you could visit the caves, nottingham castle or errrrr....cant think of much else

Derby is ok. Westfield Centre much improved a couple of years back so all the big shops. Lots of bars close together. Easy ladies etc etc etc

Unless he's referring to the Donnington near Newbury.

Which also has a castle.

And which I might have driven to from Reading for my first Download festival and wondered where everyone was.
