Not for me. I allready am on my second mk1. A friend of mine is thinking of getting a mk2 and has asked me some questions, but to be honest I know bugger all about mk2's.
First question is are there any known problems with pre vvc engines?
Second question is are Eunos's better specced than UK cars? I can easily answer this for the mk1, having had one of each, but does the same apply to the mk2?
Finaly, anything else to look out for?
He knows a fair bit about cars and is technically minded, so we are not after general "how to buy a car", but any snippets of information on the mk2 that it may be useful to find out before, not after, purchase.
Thanks for your help.

This is quite a simple one. Mk2 is almost exactly the same as Mk1, just with a modified body. The engines/driveline is exactly the same other than a few little tweaks.
VVC is Rover K-series - it's VVT on MX5
There is no such thing as a Mk2 Eunos. Eunos was a range of cars produced by Mazda under the brand name of Eunos, kind of like a Mazda version of Lexus. The JDM Mk1 was branded Eunos Roadster. The Eunos name was dropped by the time the Mk2 was released so a JDM Mk2 will be a Mazda Roadster.

Cheers Lazza.
I have to say I was surprised when he text me regarding the eng.
Taking the "Eunos" name aside, would it be fair to say that the differences between a UK & imported mk2 would be the same as the differences between a UK & imported mk1? I know it depends a bit on who-ever ticked the options boxs when that particular car was new, but in general?

Correct, they're essentially the same car, they were built at the same factory in Hiroshima, some got MX5 badges, others got Roadster badges I have to say I was surprised when he text me regarding the eng.

Generally the JDM versions are better equipped and in general are less rusty but that's not always the case.
Mechanically they're identical so parts can be interchanged between the two freely.
