Britcar from Motionsport Elise #46
Discussion
What a weekend!
Firstly a massive thanks again to the crew at Motionsport for all their hard work and efforts. A bizzare event for me in that I wasn't actually racing (Hayley - despite efforts, I didn't end up buying a drive with anyone!
) but assuming my role as team owner and running the show. We put together my regular team mate Pete Storey with Britcar regular Paul Mitson and two guys new to the car, Mike Rowland and Ben Gower (hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of them!!) and I have to say they drove a first class race!
Early dramas for us in Quali meant that I had to make a last minute call to swap engines before night quali. The team kept calm and got on with it and we managed to qualify all four drivers with 9 minutes to spare! phew! The spare engine was quite a bit less powerful that the race engine, which is some way of the permitted limit anyway...it was going to be a tough slog to keep up.
The one smooth lap we did put together saw us starting 26th on the grid with Storey to do the first stint. The car was superb. Barely missing a beat the during the entire 24hrs. We had 3 swipes from faster bigger cars causing small amounts of cosmetic damage, one trip to the gravel (/wags finger at Pete ;P). Each pitstop ran smoothly and all bar two scheduled.
I think the last hour was probably one of the most stressful of my life but I'm so very proud of all the guys for getting the Lotus to really punch above its weight, finishing in 6th place overall. The highest placed Britcar Production GTN championship competing car!!
Thanks also to Britcar for putting on a great event and so sorry to hear that a Marshall got injured during what is essentially a fun weekend for us. We wish you a speedy recovery.
All the best,
Simon - Motionsport

Simon - as I've already said in person and on FB - it was a pleasure to drive for Motionsport and to drive for you.
If the last hour was stressful, you didn't show it, keeping your head and humour.
The car you've built was fantastic to drive, and the crew as professional as anything I've ever seen.
There were several high pressure moments, and each one was handled in a calm and efficient way!
Loved every second and i'd drive for you anytime
