Better lane discipline because we all do more than 70mph anyway.

Better lane discipline, but I think I'd rather see people leave proper gaps to the car in front than either. That way the motorway wouldn't come to a stop ten minutes after someone lightly touches the brake pedal because the muppets behind them were too close.

Better lane discipline.

I don't want an increased limit, I want the removal of mandatory limits altogether (although an increase is better than nothing). smile

To me increasing the speed limit seems completely pointless, due to the morons on our roads that have no concept of correct lane usage on roads with more than two lanes mad

Sort those out first, then look at the speed limits.

I would like to have a speed limit increase and remove overtaking on the left as a possible offence of any kind.

Best of both worlds.

Lane discipline. Everyone sits at 80 - 85mph anyway, but its those total pillocs in the middle lane which slows the whole show down. fking hate them all! frown

God no. I hate driving in countries where you're allowed to overtake on both sides, it just means the whole road slows to the speed of the slowest drivers at the first sign of traffic.

I usually judge my speed on M'way based on conditions/traffic, I couldn't care less about the "limit". (No, I very rarely exceed 80mph as traffic levels/the shonkiness of my own vehicle usually make this impossible).

Better lane discipline would result in less traffic overall, a free-er road network, less stress and generally more awesomeness.

No, that would just give the lane hoggers some kind of justification for hogging lanes. So we'll end up with moving roadblocks that you have to weave in and out of to pass, which doesn't strike me as a particularly safe situation.

Driving back from Le Mans was a revelation. Nearly every car sitting in lane 1 apart from the (very) odd British plated car who was cruising down the middle lane.

Oddly I found southern France and Italy to be worth than the UK, though - the Italians rarely bother to stay in lane at all, let alone in the correct lane. hehe
