Hi,

I wish to buy a http://www.strela-watch.de/ watch.

I have emailed them but no reply.

Does anyone know of a UK or European based company from whom I can buy one of these watches?

No, I've never bought a poljot before. I've seen good reports from the Austrian poljot site on here though

Like to a previous thread asking same question (although was some time ago) http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Alex1981 on here has a bit of a thing for Ruskies and I'm sure he has a couple of Stralas, hopefully he'll be along soon.

Yep, I searched for/saw some of the older threads and PM'd him yesterday.

No reply so I thought best to create a thread.

It's actually the look of one of Alex's watches (black face) that got me interested in these.

Just had a reply from Alex with excellent info, posted below so may be to benefit to others of PH:

They are always for sale on ebay (do a worldwide search), but they are more expensive now than they used to be. I think smirs.com have them a bit cheaper. The company that made the movements has recently stopped producing them, so get one while you can!

Looks really nice. Having read up a bit about them I'm interested in adding one to my collection. My only concern is the case size. At 38mm they're a little small compared to most aviator style watches.

Do they wear large, and are there any wrist shots to get an idea of how they look?

Also, do Strela use automatic movements or manual winding?

Weird feeling...internet people talking about me. hehe
Glad to be of help, but I should clarify, I haven't actually bought anything from smirs.com myself. Good luck in your search.

That's a lovely one Pesty. I wanted one of those for a while, but thought that three would be ridiculous!

Here's mine:

The lug width is 19mm so it can be tricky to find a strap for them. The black strap is actually an 18mm.

Kept this one on a NATO for a while.

They wear large due to the large crystal/dial area in proportion to the overall size. Plus they are fairly tall.

I hope someone picks up manufacture of the movement. The Russian watch industry is going through a bad spell at the moment.
