After hearing a tuscan with a straight through exhust screaming through london on sundays TITT7 I now feel the need for more rumble. The shark cans I have give a slightly different rumble but I want more. Not an ear bleading 5 mins in the car extreme!
Sport cats or straight through??
Anyone have any sound samples or advise?

If it's the one I think it was I was behind it for a while and it completely drowned my exhaust which isn't quiet, but it sounded fantastic, I want one :-)

A lot of this will be subjective as to what kind of noise you prefer, but if you've after something louder then i'd recommend de-catting, and then just finding the right exhaust cans to suit what kind of sound your after.

You can go further and remove the 2 rear boxes, but this is more difficult to reverse whereas the de-cat pipes don't take too long to fit/swap back at MOT time.

From my experience, it's the rear cans that make a suprising amount of difference. Here's mine (still with cats, and back boxes) but with some sleeved cans with no packing in the can.

I have recently got some shark nose cans from ACT (my Tuscan is in the 2nd pic here: http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/sj14-tvr-tuscan-...

These have perforated sleeves, and plenty of wadding. However I have found them quite "drony" so we're going to increase the bore, and only then look at sleeving them if they're still not right.

For me, chasing "loud" isn't a good plan, you can make it loud quite easily but it'll only sound good when you're accelerating hard, and not so great for the rest of the time. Are your shark cans perforated or sleeved, and do they have any wadding in?

Definitely interested in whatever they have.. kind of sounds like a 60's F1 car.

Also like this one, but think its just a de-cat.

Ive got sleeved cans. But those cars in the link i posted sound slightly different.

Was your pipe work with the rear silencers removed custom made or off the shelf?

It's a custom job done by Advanced Automotive Systems in Newcastle, nice neat job and less than £200 which is naff-all compared to a de-cat thumbup

Did they turn the part with the silencer into a quick fit section for you, in case you wanted to chuck them back on at any stage?

I've just PM'd you.

Mine are straight through and sleeved.

Here's how it sounds from inside the car going easy on the throttle. Gives an amazing raspy sound with higher rpm.

This is what i have at the moment. I love the size and color of the cans, so i dont want to change them. So i would say the first step is remove the back boxes and wadding?
You will have to explain the hole wadding thing? silly

Great idea.I found it a bit odd that companies selling exhaust/silencing dont do before/after vidoes for the sound.THE SOUND IS MOST PEOPLES PROIRITY.I am in the process of having the first ACT Big Bore Cherry Bomb exhaust system for a speed 6 Cerb done.Rest assured I'll post some videos.Just pretend you cant see the smoke!
Looking forward to hearing this!
