Superleggera seats
Discussion
I'm an extremely happy Gallardo spyder owner with the roof down but with the roof up I'm a little tall at 6'5"! I do have the electric seats but I'm having to slump a little which is going to be a problem over the coming months. I've considered selling my car and replacing with a superleggera as I've heard those seats sit lower and therefore I'll have more headroom even though it's a hard top, is this true? Another option I'm thinking of is to try and source some different seats for my current spyder, preferably superleggera ones? I can't afford a performante by the way so just asking for any input/advice before I sell my beloved dream car and regret it, cheers Thomas.
you need to sit in one and check as I am 6'4" and find LESS headroom with the superleggera seats as the backrest does recline so you sit very upright in them. Also I personally find them uncomfortable for the same reason. You might be OK if most of your height is in your legs hence worth trying before you buy. I hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
I am on my third Gallardo, my current car is a Performante and I have always lived with this height issue of this model. There is a solution to the problem, it's a bit belt and braces, but its cheap and it works. If you're interested let me know.

Hi Guys,
As this problem may effect many Lambo owners like myself (and you three), and there is a specific forum for Lambo's I have posted the details for all to see on SupercarZone.com.
Go to supercarzone.com, go to the forum (TorqueZone) and look at the Lamborghini thread. If you're not already reg'd its free and quick to get access.
Cheers Max

"Got a Gallardo and your tall? your vision is impared and your head on the roof ??
Well read on..............
I thought I'd speak about the Lamborghini Gallardo height problem here on SupercarZone so many other 6 foot plus people can read about the problem and the "belt and braces” solution I have found.
For those that don't know, the Gallardo is designed for people below 6 feet tall, (racing drivers and typical Italians).......... well that's not exactly true, it's more to do with how long you are from your butt to the top of your head. As any tall-ish Gallardo owners (or passenger for that matter) know you have to stoop to see through the windscreen to have a good view, this is particularly problematic at traffic lights as a good example.
My first Gallardo was a spyder, this wasn't too bad with the roof down as you could simple look over the windscreen to see traffic lights, but with the roof up it could give you neck ache due to stooping. My next Gallardo was the SuperLeggera (great car) but without the benefit of a drop down roof it was a pain, so I sold that and bought the Performante this year. This car is great also but I needed to find a solution for the head-height problem still.
After speaking to Lamborghini several times on this matter during May and June without a positive result I eventually met with one of their engineers from Italy in Manchester to discuss the problem first hand. They came back with very little in the way of solutions themselves. Anyway, being an engineer myself I came up with an idea to lower my head height by changing the angle of my body by introducing a padded insert into the seat which pushes my butt forward in the seat and in turn changes my driving position angle, which in turn takes the top of my head off the roof. Think about it, sit in the seat of your car and slide your butt forward slightly and your head height lowers , it’s simple but of course you can’t drive with no support in the small of your back so use a small custom made insert.
I spoke to Lamborghini about this, they were delighted to hear the idea and have now adopted this idea for some customers, you can now order a small seat insert from them, or you can have a pair made for under £50. I can take photos of the insert and post here is anyone is interested in taking the matter further?
Cheer,
Max"
