Does anybody have a Ford in 'Oyster Silver'? We've been offered a car at a very good price, but it's not at our local dealers. I'm not 100% what sort of silver it is and Google throws up conflicting results.

Can anybody help?

This one is Oyster Silver, my Mum used to have one. It looks OK, almost like Mercedes Cubanite Silver.

Hmmmm, that looks totally different to this: http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Which is pretty much the car we have been offered...

The car in that ad looks more like Ford "Stardust Silver". I used to have a Mondeo in that colour.

Hmmm,

That C-Max looks too light to be Oyster. The Ka I posted is the same colour as the Oyster Silver my Mum's Ka was.

I'm guessing the dealer has got his wires crossed.

Most of the silver C-Max cars on the trader are listed as being 'Moondust Silver'.

My Mondeo was an early car, so perhaps they changed the colour and name slightly for later cars?

This site lists 7 different codes for Oyster Silver, so maybe there are different versions.

The dealer did suggest that the listing could be wrong, and offered a swatch for Chill actually, so it's not too far away I guess.

I didn't like Chill when I first saw it. I wanted the Black Cherry.

"And now?"

"And now ..what?"

I'd describe it as silver with a hint of sage in it - pretty bland and non-descript and I only got it because it was a killer deal.

Just a boggo Irish plate. Who wants any normal plate on a car?

Maybe you should post it in the juvenile things that amuse you thread?

I'm not that keen on the colour either, but it's the car for the lady, so it's up to her. It's so frustrating that we can't see it before we have to put a deposit down. It seems the way with so many main dealers now, they hold such little stock.

Anyone who bought a car in Belfast a few years ago got one with their car. loser

As for the silvers shown, it's impossible to say looking at pictures on the web - the colours will change depending on the camera used, the lighting conditions, the AWB of the camera, the brightness of your monitor, the colour temp of your monitor....
