Hmmm, I wonder what sparked this off?!!! 
I think an S has managed to fit one the smae as the MX5 ones before.
They are a rack which straps around the boot lid so there are no permanent fixings.
You'd only need to put one wheel on it but if you could fit 2 on it then even better.
(fronts fit in boot and one rear behind the seats. this is with roof up. If no passenger then the other rear goes on that seat. i know you know this now, but they might not!).

Hmmm I wonder.... I was hoping for something that could carry at least 2 wheels (with rubber obviously) to free up some space for a) a passenger and b) all the bits and bobs that I like to take along to make me look like I know what I'm doing but never actually use
...oh and something to jack the car up...My ex and I talked about inventing something when we were happily merry on our hols in France last summer. Of course, we never did it, but the plan went something like this. Get a boot lid from a write off, it would need to be reinforced so as not to craze or bow under the weight, respray, add off-the-shelf rack. Then you can swap over that and your 'nice' one as you need them.
Might be worth talking to a bodyshop first though, to check that the surround that the boot lid sits on has the strength to carry extra weight without flexing and causing cracks.
Our other idea was to get the back end of a written off Chimaera and turn it in to a trailer. This may be an indication of what a lovely time we'd had touring the Champagne houses

I see one on the back of a Griffith last year at Le Mans, Red Griff, have a pic some where will try and find it.

Seriously thou' the biggest problem seems to be the roof panel as it splits the boot in half. Wonder if it would be possible to get a two piece roof panel made up like an S3. This could easily be mounted on a boot rack of some sorts and leave the boot free when needed.
