Friend of a friend had a cat. A very nice, friendly, fluffy cat.

Then the friend decided to get a Westie. Then she got another Westie. Then she decided she could make money breeding Westies and before long the house rang to the barking of half a dozen ankle-biters of all sizes running amok everywhere. By this time the cat had effectively retreated out of sight, holing up in a bedroom, and only appeared at mealtimes. This state of play continued for some years, the cat ignored and forgotten.

I just heard today that the cat is dead. It was set upon by the Westies and found dead with its throat ripped out.

Don't know why I'm telling you this, but it just seems so wrong and so avoidable.

I would report them to RSPCA if I knew them.

I'm sure they're in the phone book.

Very sad. It's a common thing, cats not getting on with westies. Normally, the westie lot accuse the cats of thinking they're all superior, when in reality they're rather similar. Unfortunately, when too many of 1 breen outweigh the other, sometimes they all gang up and it ends in tears.
see www.blatchat.com for prime examples.

The damage is done now, so no point. I can only hope the owner is feeling very upset and very stupid.

I'm sorry but if it does that to a cat, how can it be trusted with any living thing?

Doesn't matter. The person is still dealing with animals and from the sounds of it he\she doesn't sound like a professional breeder, so god know whats happening to those dogs and also when they forget about their cat and let the poor thing get killed like that what else do you expect.

Report them. Otherwise they will have another cat and it will go the same way. Some people are simply too stupid and irresponsible to own pets, these are some of those people.

Seems to me rather unlikely it would try the same trick on a giraffe.

You've never met a Terrier. They are dumb as f**k and have no idea whether something will kill them but will try to attack anyways...

Absolutely disgusting that they can get away with it.

They shouldn't be keeping pets if they let them kill each other...

Does anyone watch the 'USA' equivalent of the RSPCA thing on Animal Planet TV channel? They seem much more in favour of protecting animals over there. It makes the RSPCA look spineless in comparison!
In this case they'd probably have the owner in jaol!

She won't have another cat - she has no interest in them now. If I find out she gets one then I'll be first on the blower, don't worry.

She is only interested in Westies, and seems to look after those OK - in fact they rule her life.
