Our new Leon FR TSi has had the a/c fail on it all ready. The condensor has (apparently) been holed by a stone or something hitting it. The garage has fixed the car and returned to us, with the old condensor. I had to pay for the fix as due to damage rather than failed component.

The thing that is worrying me is that the condensor shows quite a few 'dings' in it already, as well as the one bigger impact which I guess is the one that caused the leak. The car is only 4 weeks old and done 1300 miles but the condensor looked more like the radiator in my caterham that is 5 years old with 20,000 miles on it.

I can't remember the car being hit by a load of gravel at once, so I'm now worried that the car has a poor design which makes the a/c condensor (big radiator thing) very prone to damage.

I think I'd be writing a nice letter to Mr Seat regarding this, take some good pictures and explain all. You could be helping them out in the long run as-well as yourself

Probably just bad luck, hit a big enough stone at 70 mph its going to do some damage, short of putting some protective mesh inbetween the condensor and the exposed bit not much you do.

Sums it up, really. Get used to getting stupid things fixed due to damage. It's almost like Spain doesn't have roads with dirt on them or something.
