Blow drying doesn't wash with police

A motorist in New Zealand caught travelling at 74mph in a 30mph zone claimed that he was trying to blow dry his car after washing it.

Roger Daniel was fined NZ$300 and disqualified from driving for six months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

Daniel claimed that he'd just washed his car and due to a bad back didn't want to chamois the car dry so took it for a drive and watched as the water moved off the bonnet as he drove. He claimed that there were no other people or cars on the road at the time.

Where did you hear this?

The fine for travelling 45-49ks (just under 30mph) over the limit is NZ$630. If its more than that you have to go to court and the fine will vary but I cant imagine itd be that low.

Ummmmmmm, don't laugh at this guy.

I have done exactly that myself to dry a car off.

Although on a DC not a 30mph road.

"He claimed that there were no other people or cars on the road at the time."

This is also part of a dutch campaign about domestic jobs: who does what at home.

Dad takes the car for a (excuse) spin to dry after carwashing. Saturdays I first go to the carwash and then drive to a supermarket. So I do the same thing. Doing 30 in the 30 zone dries great . . . But I just hate to use the windscreen wipers afterwards! And my alloys keep blackish . . .

(get a life)

Actually I just love dirt on a car.
