My girlfriend wants to buy me a watch for my birthday and asked me what I want. As she's a student I don't want her to spend a lot on my birthday so a budget of £100. Was going to ask her to get me a parnis 47mm big pilot hand wind as it's cheap I want a subtle watch and I had a parnis 50mm u boat homage and i havnt had a problem with it. Is there anything else I should look at in the £100/pub £100 range. My only preference is it be no smaller then a 40mm face because I'm quite big and small watchs look really small on my, hense my daily watch is a 50mm and a 40 something mm sub for work.

Take a look at Orient, something a bit different, I have a Mako which I rate highly for the money, not 'quite' up there with the overall quality of a Seiko Monster but not far off IMHO. They also do a Mako 2 which is circa 46 mm against the 41mm original. I paid about £90 delivered, so its within budget. Not sure what price the Mako 2 is though.
Also worth pointing out the new Orient Ray, essentially a Mako with a different design of dial.

All the above are automatic btw.

Happy hunting.

Loads of lovely G-Shocks around that price or less. GA100 or GA110 probably my preference, but lots of choice.

I hope you're happy with it. IMHO watches which have the 'vintage' look should be mechanical or automatic rather than quartz, but it would be a boring old world if we were all the same.

I have to agree I would prefer it with a mechanical movement but I really like the face and the case back detail on this one.

I think that is really cool. Would be interested to hear your thoughts when you get it, but it looks good value at £100. My one slight niggle is the date wheel doesn't match the dial, but that's quibbling really.
