I have just decided to put my car on the Autotrader website. I cannot believe that they want £35 for a couple of weeks on their website.

Has anyone used Autotrader recently and does it work? I suppose I don't mind paying the money if it produces results but I do not want to be flooded with spam and scams.

I usually try PH Classifieds and maybe a make/model specific forum first, if they're free. The other advantage is you generally get less scam attempts or bell-end questions.

Only if I don't get a sniff from those two will I use Autotrader.

I used ebay,
They do a classified add for about £40 – with no other fees if it sells.

Also, if you flog the car and take the advert down it looks like you get a refund.
(or for some reason ebay just gave me £6.70 because they love me)

Auto trader gets by far the most traffic so it's £35 well spent if you sell the car or it's a few weeks free and you keep the car, your choice. No offense to PH Classifieds as i always look, but non members and non car people wouldn't even think about looking on here.

Gumtree all the way. I've never been able to sell anything on Autotrader.

First page of Google for "car classifieds" would tend to suggest otherwise.

All depends on the car IMHO, PH is great for sports and specialist.
When we sold my wifes MGTF a couple of years ago we didn't get a sniff from PH. Sold via Autotrader within 4 days and several queries/calls.

8th on the list for me,If you wetre searching for anything else on google do you normally got that far down the list. most people tend to click the 1st or 2nd and thats it.
That and from experience everyone I know ( none of my friends/family are car people) would take Autotrader as the default place to look for a car.

Seconded. Have sold sports type cars here very quickly with no bother. Trying to sell an S-Max at the moment and not a sniff.
