Just a quick question ,when i purchase a clutch does it come as a three piece kit ? is it normal practice to replace the lot ?

Just enquired about a clutch and i got this answer which is even more confusing.
Can someone explain what the three parts do.

HiI will give the softest advices ,You can send me your old clutch and we can convert it to make a competition paddle kit that will take the bhp. a rough price will be £150.00-£175.00 depends on the size and complication of buildKindest RegardsLinda CardissSales DirectorClutch-Specialists.co.uk0113245339607889601993

Pressure plate, release bearing and friction plate.

Without question all three should be changed at the same time.

Some suppliers may insist on an exchange basis for your old crap, but the three or four clutches I've changed in the past the old crap ends up in the bin.

Definitely renew all three at the same time.

Some do just renew the friction plate, but as it's all got to come out in any event, it really is false economy just to renew the friction plate; it will all be worn to varying degrees.

Just ask Rob, when I bought mine it was only a little bit more money than a standard clutch.

Unlike your monster, my baby 4.0 litre doesn’t really need an uprated clutch (yet).

However, it’s likely I will be adding some of Robs heads at some point soon.

So it made very good sense to pay a bit more for a much better clutch that can cope with the extra power thats on the horizon.

I don’t want the bother of fitting another clutch for a good while yet.

Remember Daz; cheapest has nothing to do with value for money.

Do the job once and do it right, it’s a strategy that will pay dividends in the long run.

I think the Helix is good for 400 torques? but V8 Developments can confirm this.

It might be fair to assume neal1980 was asking a bit more than this from his Helix?

It slipped twice on me then I knew I had to change it, looks fine to me.

Paddle is a bit on/off but at least no slip, not ideal but will get me through this year until I can save the pennies for a Mcleod Street Twin jobbie.

Daz did you feel how heavy my clutch was biglaugh

Hes getting good at swapping clutches now.
