When cars came in colour, not just black or grey. Remember them?

We are currently looking for a saloon and the BMW Sheep car seems to be the best for us, but it only seems to come in either grey or black.

Anyone else think this is a shame?

Definitely. There is another thread on here about an advert for an m3 convertible in brown, which I think looks great...

You do get a few cars in colours, such as the focus ST's etc but my personal opinion is that its a shame half the cars on the road are silver, black white etc.

and what colour is my car... er black biggrin

Yes! Damned annoying whenever I want to buy a "new" (as in five year old) car.

I'd rather drive a bright pink car with flowers on it than a grey or silver one - horrible, horrible colour.

BMW especially are buggers for this.
It's (partly) because all BMW staff get a BMW car for (around) 6 month or 6k miles, and when they hit the limit the car goes into the used car market.
It keeps a steady supply of quality low mileage Beemers and makes the resale values stay high – probably some tax reasons too.

But, the cars the staff can have are all standard non-offensive colours.
Blue, Grey, Black – all the colours of the Roundel.

I was chatting to a dealer the other day about the guaranteed buyback values of financed cars.
Colour makes a difference on the price.
He specifically mentioned White – which has a significantly lower buyback value.
Perhaps other colours effect this too, so people don't but the cherry red models?
