Hello,

Im new to the watch forum so please bear with me.

I would love to buy a vintage Rolex but have very little idea as to their value. There is one on ebay that I am watching

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110752515673?ru=http%3A%...

and I would be grateful to your opinions as to what it might go for or what I should bid up to. Also, if you could point me in the direction of a good supplier of vintage Rolex's I would be very grateful. Budget is £1000 up to £1500.

Thank you in advance.

I'm no expert but the winding crown looks slightly suspect (and we are not shown it properly) and why does it say 14K gold case (with 'Alligater' (sic) strap ) when the picture shows a stainless steel case with gold bezel?

Thanks Arrive Alive. Yes, the winding crown does look a bit off - as if he forgot to re-wind it?!

Also saw this one -

Dominic has a fab looking vintage Air King. Advertised at £2395 but I'm sure it was advertised in your budget so dunno whether there'e been a slip of the finger or I'm just wrong!

Doesn't the add actually rear "stanless steel and 14k gold case" and that's just what it looks like to me? So the seller kant spel, but that doesn't mean the watch is a fake!

TBH if you're not familiar with what you're looking at then there's no way I'd recommend ebay for purchases like this, there are too many fakes out there. Much better to speak to someone like Dom.
