next car?????? :S
Discussion
hi there, currently im 19 and will be 20 in march and my insurance will be up for renewal in july. im driving a lupo 1.4s at the minute and really love it (after having 2 puntos who wouldnt) it is a really tidy car that drives well. however i thinking of a different car around the time my renewal is, i want something with a little bit more go, slightly bigger and the most important cheapish to insure. any suggestions ??
hmmm these are all good suggestions, i was considering a diesel as i am clocking up 20 000 a year :/ poor lil lupo, when i say cheaper insurance i mean like insurance group 10 ish. and something that will do 35mpg if petrol, 45mpg if diesel and something with 5 seats and a boot which can fit a twin sub in? been told a focus 2.0l could be a path to go down ?

Try looking at cars with the 1.8T engine, A3, Ibiza Cupra, Golfs etc. They seem to be pretty cheap to insure compared to the potential power output
Had a 1.8T A3 and it was thirsty as you like. I thought Puma too - but if you're looking for big that's probably out. Is a 306 too small? Very good turbodiesel engine. Good solid cars...
What about a mk4 Golf GT Tdi? Although out of memory the insurance on those may be disproportionately high.

Twin sub? Oh dear
So you're a 20 year old, with intents of buying a pensioner grade shopping cart, of which you then plan to try and regain your youth by playing something pretending to be music at a volume that only really achieves the boot seal to make a farting sound in a most unfashionable way, and causes all the interior trim to rattle.

no i would probably just put my jl audio 10 inch sub in and leave it at that, i was just giving you an idea of the boot size i was going for. i thought that my puntos boot was just about okay for practicality.
I might have missed it, but do you have a budget in mind?20,000 miles a year is quite a few I admit. Personally think I'd be looking at a BMW, most of the petrol ones, even a 328i should manage your 35mpg requirement when driven sensibly.
Not sure on insurance though, but I suspect a 2.0 Focus isn't great in this regard either.
Is a diesel Alfa 156 in budget? Certainly not as good a car as the Focus, but some how so much better.

i have no set budget as yet, but i guess 2.5-3k, was thinking something like a focus because parts are easier to aquire (cheaper
) what about mk3 hyundai coupe 2.0l ?
Don't know much about the Hyundai, they seem to review well so suspect they aren't bad. Although I'd watch parts prices on them.
) what about mk3 hyundai coupe 2.0l ?If you fancy a coupe how about something like a Celica?
Those mpg figures are both a doddle to match for a lot of petrols, nevermind diesels.
