Because it's instant.

So, do you make your own mayonnaise for the coleslaw, or use some out of a jar? because the question then could be "Why the fk do people buy mayonnaise ready made?"...

grated cheese and grated carrots??!!
I can see some people may have limited useo ftheir hands to do this - arthritis maybe...but mass appeal from supermarkets?
Just an extension from cars whose wipers come on when it's rainy...laziness in the extreme

Making mayonnaise is easy. Making mayonnaise that doesn't taste fking awful, somewhat less so.

Of all things you could have picked up on I would have thought coleslaw would not need any explanation as to why people buy ready made.

Easier and cheaper to buy it.

I like the Sainsburys Basic Colslaw as its cut a bit chunkier than their normal colslaw. Anyway 46p for a 500g tub

Lets see, to make it Basic mayonaise is 48p, so its already more expensive before I have bought the rest of the ingredients.

To be honest its not worth the effort.

Ready-chopped vegetables irritate me.

Ready-chopped onions I can 'sort of' understand, but who is that lazy / inept they can't chop a swede and a few carrots? For a stew that's going to take ages to cook anyway.

Nah have you ever tasted the tap water in London? It's rank, buying bottled water in Yorkshire however is stupid.

I can't but then I have never suffered with runny eyes cutting them. I keep mine in the fridge which is supposed to help.
