Chipped XBOX 360?

Hi,

Been given a xbox from a mate who bought it from someone else a while ago. Came with Halo, GoW2 and Alan Wake - all work fine.
I've bought GoW3, inserted the game, it tries to update and I get an E66 error message.
Does this suggest the console is chipped? He did mention that he couldn't go online with it.

Does Gamestation and the like have a way of testing if a console is chipped or do they just check that it works? (thinking of trading it in for another xbox.

Yes, the E66 error does usually (but not always) mean that it's chipped.

Yeah more than likely it is and Gamestation will check. Best off to sell it on eBay where somebody will give you good money for it because they know how to mod it themselves so can update the firmware and then download the update.

Thanks both - and I was looking forward to GoW3 too!!!
Looks like Ebay is my best bet then.
