I'm just about to collect an RS4, which will be my regular everyday car. I want it for the performance, and compartiavely understated looks. For various reasons, I don't want the car to stand out too much.

Should I just debadge it, or go 1 further and whack A4 1.8T badges on? I can't work out wether the idea is good, or just naff.

Over to the "taste police" that is the PH massive...

Misbadging down is as tacky as misbadging up, IMO.

Debadge. Rebadging is a bit try-hard IMHO.

If I ever manage to find a 328i Sport in decent nick I'll take the 328i badge off I think. Looks much cleaner.

But then I like the comprehensive badging on my T16S!

IMO it only works if the car is close to resembling a lesser version of its self (i.e. a 318 badge on a 330). The RS4 is VERY obviously an RS4 whether it has a badge on or not, so I think putting a 1.8T badge will just look stupid.

Having said that, I could kind of see the point if you went the whole hog and fitted a standard body and single peashooter exhaust, and whatnot. That would be mildly amusing.

Thats why I thought 1.8t, it has 2 exhausts..

The vote is 100% naff though, so I think i'll scrub the idea. I was in 2 minds, looking daft isn't part of the plan!

The trouble you face is this though, 90% of those who'd read the badge are likely to know what it really is.

Surely that's half the point? The problem to me, in this case, is that the 1.8t's are very tuneable and it being quick doesn't necessarily prove that as wrong. Obviously there's the glorious v8 soundtrack, but at high speed/with background noise people might not notice and hence not "get" it.

I don't think rebadging is necessarily tacky, but in this case either rs4 or debadge (I'd just about err on the side of debadge as the body and sound are giveaways to petrolheads)

In that case it's even more pointless though. Why rebadge it to a model many would expect to be quick anyhow??

Add more badges.

GTiRS4x4Turbo has a ring to it.

People will just think you are a moron in the most base spec car with stupid badges and a silly bodykit.

Lol. The plan wasn't to confuse petrolheads, it was more to confuse people at work into not getting all worked up about me murdering polar bears. petrolheads tend not to care about penguins as much..

I would just leave it as it is. Unless you are a petrol head you could just say it's a 1.8 petrol with a loud exhaust and those not in the know won't bat an eyelid.
