not for me.......
Evening all,
Got a call from my dad earlier tonight, he was involved in a minor accident the other day,
he was ok, but his immaculate S60 wasn't quite so.
Liability aside......
A minor altercation with a van resulted in a crushed wing, smashed headlight and damage to bumper
(not seen it for myself) but he says everything still looks straight and the bonnet etc still lines
up ok and opens and closes fine.
The car is being trailered away tomorrow for assessment/repair, but he is concerned about the risk of the
car being deemed uneconomic to fix. Not alot of damage, but the car is getting on for 9 years old.
Its immaculate though and has hardly turned a wheel (10K)
So, what rights does he have should the car not be repairable ?
Basically, if they don't repair, can he just get the car back, no questions and find a place to repair
it for him, after all it is his car.....
He's had it since new, the repair bill would be worth it to keep it going !
I've advised to get in touch or visit the bodyshop, as I'm guessing eyes will light up if someone thinks
they could have a quick profit case on their hands...
Any advise/experiences greatly received.

It's not down to the bodyshop though. What he's best doing is waiting for the insurance company to say the car is total loss then he can start the ball rolling with the bargaining. The car will have a salvage value of something daft like £750 so he asks for the the value of the car minus the salvage value then he fixes it with second hand parts or non dealer parts then gets his mint car back to mint and pockets a nice chunk too.
