Mobil 1 Track Record's newsletter, the highly PR-flavoured 'On the Record', tells us that Matthew Parris, the journalist and columnist, writing for the Spectator, set out to examine the merits of expensive skin moisturisers and compared their effects to other, cheaper alternatives. One of these was Mobil engine oil, which Mr Parris found kept the skin on his calves moist for longer than a 'well-known and expensive patent moisturising cream'. He also liked the smell of the oil the best of all the alternatives he tried.

Mobil's Track Record programme is daft enough already, but as for lefties putting engine oil on their tender little calves... mind you, even at £10 a litre it's cheaper than Oil of Olay and he doesn't have to embarrass himself in the toiletries department ('er - it's a present for my wife...')

Hmmm, I don't quite think that Spectator writer and ex-Tory MP Matthew Parris can be described as 'leftie'....

Right, you probably think I'm mad but next time you're getting your lunchtime Kit Kats and sandwiches in the newsagents, have a look at what's in the ingredients in Trebor's Softmints ... might have to grind down a few hundred of the buggers now me wax isn't coming ...

Had to laugh
