eeek

Just changed the oil and found this attached to the magnetic sump plug.

Car is running superbly though.

Does it look like the spacer for the rocker cover gasket ?

Has any one got one they can measure for me please ?

If it is that, then I wont worry to much as its not going to cause any further problem ( I will replace it though to avoid leeks due to over compression)

I guess it can just wash into the sump if dislodged when putting the cover on?

Looks like the spacer for the rubber gasket, pesky little things I've never liked them with bolts whereas studs work so much better to locate gasket & cover wink

No they are all securely held on heads now I have studs all round - certainly stopped the damned things popping out at the slightest gnats fart..

They are about 10mm dia & 6mm high OTOMH if that helps.

Probably is although they are brass and not magnetic.

I have spares in the garage, back soon if no one has posted.

Cheers Dave it must that

I thought about studs, but I still have the stupid solid heater pipes running along the drivers side, making the fitting of that cover a real pain in the a***.

Not sure it would be possible to fit with studs. Do I remember you relocated your heater pipes ?

No I've always had pre-serp and advised all of those offside pipers to convert to through the vee. I hate that round the side piping, but can't see why studs wouldn't still be easier to mount even with that monstrosity - like the gasket, then cover you just drop the things over the studs ~ no wiggling / finding holes / dropping bits..? Just use long nuts ala Ford Racing the 1/4" unc is pretty common.
