I am off on an impromptu business trip to Vienna next week and on the way back have a 4 hour wait for connection in Zurich. I notice that the train is just a 10 minutes ride into the city and thought I may have a couple of hours in Zurich.

Any tips?

One tip, take plenty of money. I had a couple of hours in zurich airport last month it was crazily expensive. Two burger king meals (not much choice) came to £30 and a bottle of water was £5. Damm that chf

I worked in Zurich for a while, at the airport!

If you have 4 hours and want to go land side then grab the train in to town for an hour or so. The train takes about 20 minutes but its better than the Airport.

The Airport itself isnt bad, nice shops but as its been said, expensive.

+1
shockingly expensive place.
Good fun spotting the Russian gangsters though...just keep your eyes open for the stunningly good looking women and the gangsters will be close behind!!!

I'd a few hours there a couple of years back, train out of airport, wander around etc much like you're suggesting. Certainly worthwhile to kill some time, (I bought nothing though).
