audio options ?
Discussion
Mine wasn't self fit, but what I can tell you is that it needs to be powerful to be heard, roof down, at high speed
JL Audio XD400/4 (4 x 100W)amp in the boot
C3-650 Speakers (Front)
C2-600 Speakers (Rear)
Stinger cabling
Alpine CDA117R controller (inc iPhone/iPod connection)
Alpine CHA5634 (6 disc changer) in the boot
That lot was £1700 inc VAT installed professionally, I winced at the price at the time, but it does sound great.
I think most of the components have come down in price since.
main thing about the amp is how compact it is:

Similarly confused...
I unplugged my 'OEM' stereo fascia from the dash about 9/10 years ago, put it in it's box, put the box down the side of the seat. I sometimes move it; when vacuuming the car...
Sorry, but I am thinking I am in agreement;

blatting up and down the gears on a twisty is one thing, but steady 100 miles cruise on the motorway, something other than the monodrone makes a welcome change
To quote indirectly from another thread;"Tell her to shut up, you are trying to listen to your engine."

Apologies to the original 'author', I have forgotten the poster's name.

Exactly! The whole point of the Chimaera is that it's not a one-trick pony: it's a car that you can comfortably cover long distances in, as well as blatting it when you want to. For me, a typical long journey in the TVR involves two-thirds motorway driving (roof on, air-con on and music playing), then I pull onto more interesting roads for the last part of the journey (roof off, air-con off and music off).
People often say that you don't need music or air-con in these cars; but I think that's missing the point of the Chimaera as a GT car.

I hope by now you've burned that baseball cap, or given it back to the Griff owner to whom it obviously belongs...The whole point of the Chimaera is that it's not a one-trick pony: it's a car that you can comfortably cover long distances in, as well as blatting it when you want to. Having driven 90k of her 96k miles, I seem to have missed that point completely. The whole point of the Chimaera is that it's not a one-trick pony: it's a car that you can comfortably cover long distances in, as well as blatting it when you want to. No power steering, no aircon, no silencers, no music, no mods; just 5 litres of snap crackle and pop.
She purrs like a contented tiger at a motorway steady 85. Beautiful.
But, as they say; your mileage may differ.
