Any Rochdale owners on here?
Discussion
One of the few Kit Cars I have not owned. Good Post!
An outstanding car with a remarkable longevity.
Simply the best of its time.
When I get through the seven Kit Cars I am building/rebuilding/refurbing I will look at buying a Rochdale.
My only reservation was, from memory, (I was driving when they were made), there was never a Roadster model. And I have always loved Roadsters.
Probably why I never owned one.
But a brilliant car widely respected then and now.

Is it a roofless Olympic or a separate development? Are there any about?
It's a different car, look like (a little) an Olympic but it's an another shape based on the GT.

Ex-owner of a British Racing Green GT. 10HPL, where are you now? It was my first car and I thought it was coolest thing in creation. Well, after a Lambretta it probably was! Side valve Ford, 3 speed gearbox and rod operated brakes. Shocked myself when I realised I bought it 40 years ago!
I currently own 499 YUT - a Phase 1 which was restored about a decade ago and spent much of the last 10 years on display in Moretonhampstead Motor Museum.
I'm really enjoying driving it - the guy who restored it, tried to keep it true to its origins so very much a time capsule which makes it feel quite special.

That looks very pretty!!! They're a rare sight anyway but most of the cars I've seen at shows recently have had modified wheel arches which really takes something away from the original design. That looks like a very original example.I'm really enjoying driving it - the guy who restored it, tried to keep it true to its origins so very much a time capsule which makes it feel quite special.

looking good, I wonder, which drives better, a TVR Grantura from that period or such Rochdale?
I imagine much will depend on the individual car and setup. For me, it's always been the GRP monocoque which separates the Olympic from most other cars of the era.
I never realised the Rochdale is GRP a monocoque - like the type 14 Elite?
