Some quotes from a Dept of Transport Independent Report on scamera revenues in 2003.

Essex raised £5.7million

Lancashire £5.9million

Warwickshire £2.4million

The revenues include fixed and mobile sites.

I strongly believe these figures are total lies.
Unfortunately i do not have the time or the means to investigate them. Can anyone think of any way to get hold of some real figures from camera partnerships?

Two of the counties revenues above are quoted at approx 6 million. That equates to 100000 fines.
That again equates to just 274 speeding drivers caught per day. NO WAY!!!
Just one well placed mobile camera unit would catch that many on its own! Honestly it would!!
I dont know how many mobile units each of the above counties operate, does anyone know? I would guess at about ten and rising. If we were to say fixed Gatso's catch 24 drivers per day, that leaves 250 by the mobile units.
That's just 25 speeding tickets (2.5 per hour)issued by each van per day. NO WAY!!!
They're fiddling these figures something rotten because they know there would be a public outcry if the real amounts got out.
I suspect the 6 million is more like 30 million in reality (that's 12.5 per hour).
Does anyone have any views on how partnerships could adjust the figures to show only perhaps a fifth of the true revenue raised, without actually telling lies? ie. the amounts dont include revenue from extra mobile units purchased after the start of the financial year in question.

Deeps.

I dont believe a word of it.
Basically im a little tired of listening to their protestations of "not making money" and " saving lives" etc etc, its all bollox.
As for getting official but more importantly meaningful stats from any of those scamwhores, youve got more chance of a hot date with the pope.
.......(not the correct smiley but the only one that gets close)

Perhaps those numbers reflect the "profits" after paying staff and buying new vans and offices etc

Im sick of the blatant lies too, i'm sure we all are.
But i think somehow we have to do more than just chew over the same old points in motoring forums, which is encouraging yes but doesn't actually achieve much at the end of the day. Dont get me wrong though i think this place is great!
But the likes of camera partnership bosses can come here and read some of the rants about how we all despise their orginisations, then go away laughing knowing that we dont have any impact on their scams at all it seems.
I dont know what the answer is, but i did a little in writing to my local scamera partnership earlier today, asking for available statistics regarding the total amount of motorists convicted of a speeding offence in their area for 02/03 and 03/04.
I'm expecting some bullshit reply, but it's something i can pursue further.
Now where's the pope..
