Other driver's changing attitudes depending on your car
Discussion
It's amazing how other drivers change their behaviour depending on what car I am driving. Despite people having a supposed dislike of bmw's I never get people tail gating or driving aggressively around me. Go out in a classic mini or micra or similar and everyone is right up to ur back bumper aggressively trying to get u out of the way and acting like u are going slow!
Anyone else noticed?

Yes, I drive at similar speed when just going from A-B in any of three cars, yet it's only in my wheezy Astra that it seems people MUST tailgate and overtake me at any opportunity. OH has found the same.Anyone else noticed?
Maybe the Astra has an over reading speedo?
Definitely!
On the motorway in the SL and I get no bother whatsoever, no tailgating and people generally move over. No hassle from Johnny Sales Rep/Junior Manager in his A4.
Go out in the OHs C Class and it's another matter. It's almost as if there's a cgi A4 been pasted into thevrear view mirror.
The thing is that I'm not going any slower in the C class.

It's not just tailgating... out in the Fiat 500 and it's as if you're invisible: people pull out on you at junctions, side roads, roundabouts. Go down the same road in one of our other cars (yes, worst "I've got more than one car" post ever) and it's a completely different reaction.
The 500 was bought for my daughter to learn to drive in. When it had L plates on situation was even worse! Big decision when she passed was whether to put green P plates on. They're a great idea BUT don't take in to account the fact that, to your average sub-intelligence motorist, they're an invitation to cut you up, overtake when dangerous, etc etc.
Bottom line: people do make judgements. Says more about them that it does you.

People move out of the way for the Tuscan, but they don't when I am driving the A6. They are also more aggro if overtaken by the A6 than by the Tuscan.
Some chav types try and race the Tuscan, I normally let them get on with it on the occasion when I have taken the bait so far nothing is quicker to about 60
The A6 is more of a Q car and is pretty good for surprising hotish hatches

I've said this before on here. In the Clio nobody cares what i do. They seem to expect maybe a boy racer. In the BMW however i am public enemy number one!
for instance today, i come to a roundabout im turning right. Nothing coming to my right so i go round the mini roundabout. Just as someone else joins in front of me, cutting me up, while giving me abuse. I simply give up. Everyone else on the road is a f
king cretin.

At 19 I changed from a Clio to a Caterham. Interestingly, I got much less interest from the police and much more from everyone else- it was especially well received by older people who recognise it and always seem to have a story about a relative having had one.
In much the same way as the Tuscan mentioned above, do you not find the 7 to be a magnet for owners of chavved motors keen to demonstrate the superiority of their vehicles?nakulan7 said:
TBH an RS is no less chavvy than an Impreza. If you tar all Imprezas as Chavvy then all RS are pretty Chavvy too.
I am guessing this is aimed at me? Where did I say Impreza's were chavvy?[childmodeon]As we are insulting cars, hows the hairdressers car going?

[/childmodeoff]Seriously read what someone posts before spouting off b
ks...Found is when we had our MX5 but not just tailgating. By far the worst part was entering a roundabout. It seemed that a black low car suddenly becomes invisible and lead to everyone entering the roundabout when I'm approaching their entry road. Properly annoying and put me off driving it.
