My garage door has jammed - the wire that it spools on has come off and got caught. I've tried to free it with no success - as a result the garage is currently proper open - fortunately there's nothing valuable in the garage and thankfully there's been no rain (!)

I've googled a few garage door places with a number of results, but can anyone recommend somewhere at all?

Thanks

JTW

My FiL had a similar problem and we just got some from ebay for a couple of quid for the pair of spools and wires.
Quite easy to fit Tbh and only took a hour or so.

Don't suppose you've got an eBay link have you?

You'll have to find out what make the garage door is first.
Look on the lock for a makers name and just have a Google.
It was a kit similar to this...
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=3...

Or item no. 380195111365 if that link won't work.
If it's just the cones and cable you need I think you can get them cheaper than that.

I had a look and decided, after much bleeding, that I ought to get it and the door checked over.

I called this guy (David) http://www.idealgaragedoorcompany.co.uk/ - he came and took all of 20 minutes to look, sigh, and told me exactly what the problem was and "it's possible that it's banged on something hard"* and that it's come loose and to fix it.

Cost me £30 and he's checked over the door properly, cleaned and oiled the important parts and now it's as good as new.

Honest guy who didn't BS me or try to sell me any crap I didn't need.

* I admitted that it might have caught on the crap piled in the garage...

Tbh for 30quid it's a bargain.
Glad you got it sorted. Wouldn't want your homemade dungeon on view would you?

I don't fking believe it - I've just done EXACTLY the same thing again.

Well, I sold my old bathroom on ebay and the guy left a stepladder in the doorway and it's made the cable jump off again.
