Have a look around here. You'll realise that you are not alone.

Oh God no. What is wrong with just having the sidelights on? I am yet to see any cars that have a decent pair of running lights, standard or not.

You are not the only one to dislike them, as above many here don't like them. I don't much like them on new cars and can't stand them on older cars.

However. Get used to them. They are now law on new cars and because the 'early adopters' - namely Audi and Mercedes went out of their way to make them 'cool' they have found there way onto Max Power brigade cars and cars from specific groups in society who are fitting leds of often dubious quality to tacky old cars - for what real reason I don't really know. I know this ain't what you want to hear chap.

These lights used to be all the rage on caravan awnings hehe
Don't really suit cars. Unfocused light has no place on a car.

I recall reading something about permanant DRLs being mandatory on all new cars after 2013 or something like that. Let's hope not, they look naff, so, so chavvy!

More importantly, when do they become a legal requirement on motorcycles?

I see the same debate as was had when Volvo started with high level brake lights (significant reduction in rear-end shunts).

Had a wander about in Halfords earlier and they've got allsorts of DLR LEDs. They've also got little strobing diodes and puddle lights (usually mounted un the wing mirror to illuminate the floor by your door).

Yep, now the older chavs have gone to pov spec Audis, the younger chavs are putting LED striplights into their Lupo headlights to copy them. The cycle of tasteless tat perpetuates infinitely.

On the E90 the DRLs aren't bad, basically they are just the headlights on a lower setting than dipped :heheh:

I think that you can turn them off on most new cars.

I have them on my car and I have to admit, I think they look great.boxedin I had also heard/read that they will become a legal requirement on all new cars sometime soon. Interestingly though, although thy are making them a legal requirement, you can actually drive with them off (to the best of my knowledge) - at least in Audi's you can - you have your lights in the "off" position - its only when you have them switched to the "auto" or "on" position on the dial that the DTRL come on - I'm assuming this will change when the law changes in 2013 or whenever...

Nope, DRL's are wk, not a bit wk but utterly wk. I'm talking so wk they'll make into the next edition of the bible, they are that totally wk!

When I was taught how to drive you either had lights off 'cos it was daytime or they were on as it was night time, no if's buts or DRL fking maybe's!

I wish DLR's were replaced by ADAI - which stands for All Day Automatic Indicators. They can make the fog lights come on during cornering, so why can't it be done with indicators?
