Mercedes E430 Estate Tow Barge bangernomics.

Well I have decided to change my w124 E300d for something else with more poke to tow the race car. The W124 cost me nothing to run for 7 months and is a great car, just not quite comfy enough long distance towing and up the hills.
So I went for the slightly newer w210 as even though they are know as a bit of a rot box still offer great VFM. And it wouldn't be a PH car without a nice v8 in her
It is the e430 v8 in Violane metallic and running on AMG factory fit AMG's. Has some nice options like heated/cooled centre compartment, orthopedic seats, PDC and with FMBSH to 103000 and then indys to its present mileage of 133000. I hope it will provide the more gruty tow car I wanted, and it actually for a w210 seems pretty good for the tin worm. The only downside is the private plate is being retained by the previous owner. It has had all the brakes rebuit last yeat at a cost of 1200 and new condenser and ac system in 09. Front shocks were replaced last year too
It could do with a nice detail and mop, and the previous owner had dogs and I need to banish the boot smell! Other than that its got 10500 miles til la service, and all for the grand sum on 1300 quid.

Having driven a CLK430 Cabrio, I can confirm that the engine is super smooth, full of creamy torquey goodness, but not overly vocal... That 'What Getaway Car' thread springs to mind here, any plans to use it in a bank job by any chance..?
Yes my only disappointment is the lack of engine note, and that was half the reason for a V8. My brother has an e39 540 and that is much better, but I couldn't have the same as him! Hoping to win a set of 16" alloys for the winter in the next hour, as 18" winter tyres are stupid money and I don't think I can get a profile to fit the arch anyway in winter pattern.
As I am used to rubbish mpg, just interested in what the V8 is like?
Nice motor for the money and just loving these Bangernomics threads for I am approaching it in a different way.
I have owned my E36 323 since it was 6 months old back in '98, so knowing it's history and as long as nothing major happens, it's worth keeping even with it's old school thirst for petrol.

Around town I will expect sub 20, but on a run with it being so long geared I reckon at 70 mph I should get into the 30 bracket. Either way the old w124 only managed 20 ish towing and I cannot see this noticing a mk1 golf behind it being dragged along !
