One of those days from the first pedal stroke you know you are dead meat.

I have been well and truely hammered today by my fellow riders - I hate them all and wish boils to visit their bums.

I wouldn't mind but I've done my training, know my fellow riders well, usually can exploit their weaknesses but today my legs were made of plasticine.

Some days just go like that BUT it is still upsetting.

Un Jour sans.

"Défaillance. A sudden weakness. A synonym: un jour sans. A day without. All cyclists experience it sooner or later, from the most hardened professional to the lowliest amateur pretender. It differs from the ‘knock’, when the body runs out of energy, and the remedy for the knock is simple: take on more sustenance. Défaillance is something else, more insidious, its symptoms like a creeping dread. On a climb, one struggles to find one’s rhythm, or settle into the saddle and spin, to find a gear that feels comfortable, to follow wheels as they pull inexorably ahead. The remedy is also not immediately obvious. Overtraining? Undertraining? A myriad of other possibilities, physical or even mental."

That's the one.

No mystery though I think - got very cold/wet yesterday on a 2.5 hour ride.

Was put through 85 miles of pain today where my legs just didn't want to know.

Will post up the other side of this when for no rhyme or reason you have the legs of Merckx - only happens one or two times a year - but when it does.....

This was me yesterday! Got to a stage where I wasn't knackered fitness wise but I just could not get my legs to pedal me up any form of incline after 22 miles!
