Popular knowledge, and a sticker under the bonnet of my E46 M3 states you should use Castrol TWS.

TWS is now called Edge. Your popular knowledge is a bit dated! Get 10/60 Edge not Edge Sport. Its got a BMW M Approved label if you're not sure.

One is BMW M cars and the other for Astons, among others ?

The composition is a little different.

So, is Edge 10/60 exactly the same as TWS? How can you be sure?

I bought Castrol TWS recently, so it certainly hasn't replaced it. Are they perhaps selling it alongside TWS?

I decided to check with Castrol for a definitive answer, and you are correct, Eddie. Consider my "popular knowledge" duly updated smile

Cheers,
Steve

From Castrol:

Dear Mr. bass2rez,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please be informed that EDGE Sport 10W-60 and TWS Motorsport 10W-60 products have been discontinued.
Our new product is EDGE Professional TWS 10W-60, this product is made for the workshops.

EDGE 10W-60 is the nearest retail alternative, it is a special BMW M-sport oil, fully recommended to BMW M3 / M5 / Z8, generally good motorsport oil.

The two products are manufactured for two different markets (Workshops & Retails) - but yes, both are fully recommended for your car.

Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this answer.

Kind Regards,
Castrol Customer Service Team
