I notice that some have gone to the trouble of padding the cage tubing in the cab area and finishing with leather.

Is it worthwhile?

if, so what id the best method and can it be tackled my a ameteur like me?
Presumably you use some foam wrap, then stitch the leather together by hand and the turn it so the seam is facing the ceiling so not shown?
How do you do the ends?

Any helpful pictures on how its done?

Hard, easy, or not worth it?

cheers

Padding the cage tubes is sound practice to avoid damage to you head and other parts of your body in case of an accident, not unless you want to wear a helmet all the time biggrin Also, it may be necessary and mandatory to pass road registration.

You can buy roll bar foam protection from the likes of Demon Tweeks which has the hole offset to allow it to fit between the bar and the body.

As for leather cladding, I have no idea. Trimmer job probably.

Jeez,

I wan't aware how many types.... FIA, flame retardant, non-FIA...

...presumably the non FIA version (flame retardant) would suffice for the odd track day?

Correct.

Maybe a waste of money paying extra for the flame retardant stuff if you are covering it in leather/alcantara etc. Just a thought.
