Hi
My second 360 died a few months ago with the red ring of death.
Both my 360's where the older white versions.
With the new forza coming out i thought I would invest in a new one but a couple of questions with regard to exactly which one is best to get.
Firstly, I dont care about it looking all sleek and slim in shiny black, or some kind of limited edition with graphics all over it.
I dont require a huge hard drive as i have no intention of using it as a media player/streamer.
I have the original harddrive when it first got released (4gb?) and when the first one died just plugged it into a new arcade model and carried on playing, for a few years.
so
Do any of the models hold advantages, other than looks, over another? (ie have they finaly fixed the life span of it?
Can I still get an 360 i can just plug my original 360 hard drive into without messing around with cables etc? they all look different sizes now?
I might buy kinect later if it turns out to be any good for forza, is it much cheaper to buy as a bundle, and will it work with every type of 360?
Any bargain places to buy it from?
Do any use HDMI now?
Sorry for the numpty questions, but im now based in Zurich and cant just wander into a game franchise and ask.
Thanks for your help

It all depends on your budget. Getting straight to the point, get the best you can afford. Here in Ireland, there are lots of bundle deals. One shop in my towns shopping center is selling a 250gb Xbox slim, kinect, and 2 games for 225euro. That is a stupidly good price.
Btw, you will need something bigger than a 4gb HD if you are going to be playing Forza 4. I'm pretty sure the instalation files will fill that up in no time.
Non-Slim HD's will not fi a slim xbox. You can get a file transfer kit for free from xbox.com. You will need that to transfer your save games and what not.
HTH!

If I were you I'd go for the new matte black 250GB model. All models are pretty much the same apart from storage size and 4GB isn't enough IMO.
Old and new hard drives are not compatible. You'll need to get the Microsoft transfer kit or transfer your data with a large memory card.
Kinect will work with every 360. Newer models have a dedicated port for this, with an old 360 you need a seperate AC adapter to power it.

Your local blockbusters will flog you a 250gb Xbox for 195.99.
They will also rent you a data transfer cable for £4 for 5 nights.
You can use this cable to copy the harddrive of the old one onto the new xbox.
Your local Game store (or whatever)will probably do something similar.
But, probably sell you second hand cable for £12 then but it back for £8.
Toys R Us are/were flogging the 250gb Xbox for £189 – but they don't stock the data cable.
Comet online (or was it Currys?) were doing the 250gb + data cable for £210.
Basically.
Get the 250gb Xbox, get a data cable.
It'll cost you about £200
For a few quid more someone might throw in a half price new game.
New xbox is much quieter, smaller and less hot.

thanks for the replies, looks like new 250gbp one is what i need, as im in Zurich i will have to just buy the cable i guess.
Looking at prices over here, i can get the slim 250gb for 230CHF, which is cheaper (about GBP165) or 360 elite 250gb with forza for CHF303, about (GBP215).
The option is with Kinnect, costs for slim and Kinnect CHF320 (GBP230).
Will have a think...
