Hi all - question about salvage TVR's

Hi,
Not been on here for years. I used to have a Chimaera a few years back, and am looking for another. However, I have seen on ebay some salvage cars from TVRDEAN. Does anyone have any thoughts, or opinions of this dealer? I am well aware of the state they will be in and am looking to rebuild myself. I always fancied a Cerbera, and am very tempted. I did a quick search on here and a thread came up but seems old and most people replied by pm. There is a white one on there now and looks promising, but to me seems a little overpriced? As insurance only paid out 10k. As a guess cat c's are 30ish % lower than straight cars I believe, making this a 7k car finished. They want more than that not even painted.
Feel free to pm me or I can provide my number if anyone would rather call. Just wanna find out if he's selling honestly described cars or they are worse than he says.
The cat c or d bit doesn't worry me too much as I wanna keep it anyway, so the resale value is of no interest, but the price I pay needs to reflect the damage and the amount of work involved. I'm not looking to mend and shift it on, this is for me. Their price of car + parts would be ok I guess if that included painting, but thats the expensive bit, if you want a really good job. So it might be a false economy.
Dunoo.... what are your thoughts? I've been out of TVR's for too long.
Also, I had the bible with my Chimaera, is there anything similar for the Cerbera? Or am I really biting of more than I can chew? I am quite confident in taking cars apart, rebuiling and fixing.

Do a search on Pheads for "TVR Dean" and "TVR Glen".
I would recommend that you inspect any repairs carefully and that you check damage carefully and that you check the non-damaged stuff just as carefully and that you compare the prices to undamaged cars.
You can buy a much loved car for £10K or less that probably could do with work to make it better eg chassis refurb. So if you are keen to buy cheap and make the car better then look for one in this category maybe?

Is this what you can see in the pics or have you viewed it? Cos thats pretty bad if they don't mention that.Did a search, all I could find was a year old thread. Are there any threads on here from people who have actualy purchased one?
They also say they can do the repairs. Should this not be up to dricable standard? or do they just repair what 'they say' is broken?

And as for a random question. I know the body comes off, and I'll prob do this to restore the chassis over the winter if needed. But is this a massive a job as it looks? How is it fixed to the chassis? Glued/bonded or bolted? i'll do a search and see what pops up

Yeah I relooked at the pic once that was mentioned earlier and noticed. Not mentioned in the ad, so put me off their honesty to be honest. Do you think their repairs include sorting that? Or is that a MASSIVE job?

Im really not sure how massive a job it is to cut and replace, but as you can see, that section also carries the upper suspension struts, so my guess is not easy at all. Or a repair Id want to find on a car Id bought.On the Chim/Cerb choice, go for the Cerb if you'd had the Chim already....I've only owned my Cerb since May, but they are utterly utterly mental in every way!!
Ha! I was just about to write a similar thread! Been toying with idea of a partial project cerb for the winter and or two of those TVR DEAN ads had caught my eye. Admittedly the pricing seemed a bit off but I figured they leaving themselves a large amount of bartering room. Might just steer clear then!

Go on give them a call and barter (tee hee ;-) )
Why not register up for Copart's salvage auctions and wait for something coming through? The start of winter is here, so there will unfortunately be a few that take an early bath.
Quite a bit of TVR D's stock seems to come from there, as it passes through the web-auction before going to physical auction - Cut out the middle man, although I'm sure the auction house will have a slightly poorer buyer's premium for private punters.
Last time I looked it was only Cat B that you needed a breaker's license for, so I'm assuming the private individual can buy a C or D.
