Extras I needed for Aussie Rego
Discussion
Thought I would post up the extras I needed for rego for future reference:
- High level brake light (Get one from the Australian company LED. They comply)
- Rear reflectors (the ones in the supplied lights don't meet our Australian Design Rules)
- Immobiliser (most local car audio shops with have ADR approved ones in stock)
- Steering lock (this you will have to do yourself with your engineer. Mine isn't the best but it will get past)
- Seatbelt warning light (This one is ADR compliant http://www.snakebite.com.au/seatbeltwarninglightti... and get the seatbelt light for it out of these http://www.snakebite.com.au/logodashboardwarningli...
- Charcoal canister (get a nissan silva/180sx/skyline one they are nice and small)
- Handbrake warning light ( Just wire this up to the low level brake fluid switch and it will light up the low brake fluid light)
- Sunvisors (tint on the top of the windscreen complies)

Cheers for the advice. Any more details of how you solved each issue? (eg, steering lock)- High level brake light

My kit arrives in ~2 months. It's shipping next week, so I want to start to prepare each solution to be ready to go right away.

Oh also, I am a bit concerned how every car sold after July in Australia requires ESP and ABS. Hope this won't apply to ICV's.
I guess I started (deposit) on my car before any law changes anyway, so old laws will apply to me.
They don't care when you started your car. What they use to do is if the engineer had started paperwork for the just they went by the rules when that paperwork was started. Then people started going to engineers, getting paperwork started and leaving the project for years knowing they had the protection so they have also stopped that. Now it's when it gets regoed is the rules you have to comply with.I guess I started (deposit) on my car before any law changes anyway, so old laws will apply to me.
As far as I know as long as your not in NSW you should be right. The new rules they have are making it really hard to do these cars.
As far as ESP and ABS go you will probably find ICV's are exempt from those ADR's just like ICV's are exempt from impact testing.

Thanks for the Info, Much appreciated.
Does this mean that its on the Road now?
Did they check side intrusion bars in the door, that was 1 thing that was worrying me.
Not with numberplates yet. Booked in to go over rego next week. This is everything the engineer picked up.Does this mean that its on the Road now?

Your side impact protection is below the doors in the side pod. The actual door is at your chest/head level.

Well done on the rego. The states in Australia are coming into alignment so it should make it a little more logical to register you Ultima. I don't own an Ultima, but I have registered my E-Vade under the current rules.
Giday Dave, from Ryan in Melbourne (OZ clubbies) - i didnt know you had got the plates on that, last i read was you had got passed the IM240 with the Nissan VG30TT. Hi Ryan! Small world.
Yep all regoed now. I kept it quiet until I had the personalised plates I was after. I didn't want so tosser beating me to them (as they were avalaible).
EVADE1
I have been enjoying the driving of late and have been off line. As I am clearly on line now. I'll go up date the Ozclubbies.
It is great to see more and more people finally getting rego though, it looked pretty bad for a while there.
