I'm looking for an outfit that can fabricate a new custom turbo manifold to replace my old cracked manifold.

I can supply my old manifold as a guide to the fitment, location and size

I've had a few leads to to date, but trying to get some more reasonable quotes.

Any leads greatly recieved

Patterning costs will cost a fortune. If you could make a horizontal log design it would be cheaper and then you could use a bolt on extension to locate the turbo.

As its a VAG manifold there should be 100's of alternatives out there!

As above. very common engine these days, so surely there must be dozens of aftermarket options, as well as the original factory options.

As for pricing, such work if you are looking for a fabricated manifold is quite skilled. Expect to pay for it.

Lance at OJZ Engineering will be able to make anything, although he isnt exactly local to you.

I'm sure there are quite a few other skilled fabricators out there who could make you a tubular design as well.

What exactly are you after from a replacement ? Cast, tubular, other ?

Despite the 20v being a commonly tuned engine, there aren't any good quality aftermarket 'off-the-shelf' manifolds out there (in the UK anyway).

This manifold is to fit a Garrett GT2860RS, and the factory manifold is simply not upto this, hence the previous tubular manifold.

The manifold to be replaced was custom fabricated by Tig-art in the states, who seem to be out of business ( don't respond to email/telephone call & seemed to have moved to Israel )

Ideally, I'd like a stronger direct replacement for the existing manifold, so the rest of the boost pipework (which is all custom) can stay the same.

As for cost, I've been quoted 4K ( yikes ) by an outfit called BTB, so looking to beat that.

Thanks for the lead on OJZ, these the right folks (Stokeham, Nottinghamshire) ?
ps
Not that far away from Jabbasport in Peterborough, where my car now seems to live weeping

OJZ are great, you wouldn't go far wrong having a chat with Lance to talk over your options...(and yes, that's the right website)

Why not do the log manifold like I suggested? Something like this?

This is one of my Chevy LSx manifold castings. Just put the flange where you want it and save a grand or £2k?

TBH, unless the manifold is incredibly difficult I wouldnt expect to pay much over £1k

It looks relatively short and compact, and not too complicated.

If you check Turbonutters Lancia Stratos project, Lance at OJZ made all his pipework.

Ideally he would need the car with him, but if space isnt super tight, I'm sure he could use your old one as a template.
Only issue is, he will be booked well in advance, so make the call sooner rather than later.

They do indead: ATP-VVW-001

However, I've been warned about failures on these units, and the blanked off external wastegate isn't ideal
The fitment is LHD too.

tbh I'd have thought the cost of making the mould and casting would be more expensive than making a one-off from tubular steel.

How well would such a mani flow ?

turbonutter's project is awesome
That's some quality looking pipework.

Try amt in Chesterfield. They are doing one for me at the moment to fit a gt3076 not a vag engine. They use very strong stainless steam pipe. Definitely worth calling Andy. 01246 273929.
