Hi,

Is it at all feasable for one of your techies / admins to check new threads (particularly in Readers Rides) for people that have absent mindedly done a direct upload from a mobile phone?

I have PM'ed two people last week to tell them about the information embedded in every photo they had just uploaded.

99% of it is harmless however direct uploads from mobile phones often have the gps coordinates of where that photo was taken (more often than not at the OP's house). This is becasue people enable 'Geo Tagging' or 'photo share' etc on their phones.

Uploading via photbucket / thumbsnap / facebook etc will normally remove the gps coordinates. Simply turning off Camera Location services on phones is the safest way though.

I don't know, maybe people arent bothered. This is a large motoring forum though and if i had absent mindedly uploaded 20 photos of my [insert expensive car here] and basically a direct map link to my home address (which everyone can access) i would like to know!

Maybe I'm just thinking of 'The Worst Case Senario' and i should put down my tin foil hat......... but i thought i had to say something!

I understand your concerns with this, and it is something to make people aware of.

Unfortunately though the size of the team we have here it would be infeasible for our technical team to do this, and especially as the photos that are embedded in the forums are not hosted on any of our servers it would be hard for us to trawl through them.
