I have a car with nine years no claims. Just bought a jeep snotter for winter and taking gundogs out. Went to insure it and have been told i have no no claims bonus for second car and will need to start all over again for that car!!!
So it £200 more to insure £1800 worth of vitara jeep than £35K E89 Z4!!
Sounds like a total rip off to me.
Tried admiral multiple car but they are £300 dearer for Z and £200 more for vitara (£600 and £500 respectively)!!
Is this right? Never really running two cars before.
And if it is would my wife be better as main driver vitara to build up her no claims?

It is correct, however try AF as they are matching my no claims (even though it is on a different car with a different insure)

No claims applies to one car only, unless an insurance company is willing to "mirror" it across on to a second vehicle. Happens sometimes, but not the norm and certainly no obligation on their part to do so.

Re main driver, make sure that whoever is recorded as such actually is the main driver otherwise you could find yourself in hot water with them.

Oh, and Vitaras aren't Jeeps. tongue out

Classic car insurance is the trick here, but alas probably not to be with your chariot.

I use my NCB on my work van and then have my TVR and Merc on classic policies; 295 and 130 respectively.

I know the vitara isnae a jeep but it will be more useful than the BMW for going up farm tracks. Also better in the winter for occasional use by wife.
As to main driver of Suzuki neither of us will be really as won't be doing many miles. 20 miles every second Saturday to farm and back and wife may take it to work if too icy for Z.
I'm down as main driver of Z but wife commutes in it. 100 miles a week at most but I drive it evenings and weekends which amounts to more miles than her commute!

Admiral mirrored mine a few years back.
