In other shocking news, water is wet and the sky is blue.
Going to be an interesting one next year - how are Sky going to work around having a GC contender and a green jersey contender in the same team? Have no doubt Cav will still be notching up the wins, but not having a full team of guys dedicated to him might spice things up a bit.

looking at the route i think its all about wiggo in 2012. project rainbow jersey began in something like 2009 when the location was announced so i would assume that they have been working on 2012 for a while and the teams had a hunch that the route would be as recently leaked hence wiggo stating the TdF was his aim rather than the olympics. like copenhagen suited Cav, this route favours Wiggo.
I can see Sky fully backing Wiggo in 2012 and then they have the potential to change focus in the future. Cav going for green, froome for GC and the likes of Thomas becoming classics rider. all in all, a well rounded and highly competent team
So is Cav there for the long term?, no idea what the contract duration is but given he is 25 i would say this is the big contract for him which is why it took a while to decide.

i agree that sky are covering a lot of bases but the tour route wil f avour wiggo and cav has shown over the last year or two that in some circuimstances he doesnt actually need a lead out. htc were so heavily marked in this years tour that once or twice he had to get invovled in a proper old school sprint, notbaly at the worlds.

Will undoubtedly be more difficult for him without the team to control it for him but he's proven that he can do it without the team.A Manxman, a Welshman, and Englishman and an Austrian cycle to a pub and......
There must be a punchline out there somewhere. Could be, the lanlord says you can't come in here without a Thai, but that's not original so any offers?

Fingers crossed!I have a suspicion that Cav - whilst he'll undoubtedly pick up a couple of stage wins - will probably relax his focus on the Tour next year because he really wants to win the Olympic road race. I can see him dropping out as soon as they hit the first big mountain.

yes given the road race is just five days after the tour reaches paris i will be surprised if Cav is still in it but then again there arent that many mountain stages and i cant see him turning down the chance to win on the champs elysee for the fourth time... and in the rainbow jersey....
