A friends mum asked me to sell her 1999 T reg MX5 Mk 2 a few weeks ago. I cleaned it up and put it on sale on here and autotrader, starting it of at £1800 but had no luck, have since reduced it to about £1350 but still nothing.
surely the price of them has not dropped that much, granted its only the 1.6 and has nearly 120k, but has also had over £500 spent on it in the last month getting the brakes and cat changed to get it through the MOT.
Tried ebay and got a winning bidder at £1250 but he ended up emailing me after the auction finished saying he had bid the wrong amount and would give me £500 for it, wker.
So what do, where else can i try, Loot, Gumtree, surely its got to be worth at least £1300?

Yes but a cheap convertible, surely cars of this value are not effected by winter as much as more expensive cars.

Plus they are bloddy good fun in the snow!

People are economising, a not very economical 2 seater sports car is a luxury item, in winter it is a greater luxury as only the committed would want to use it.

The cars value is whatever someone will pay you for it unless you're willing to sit on it until that one buyer who meets your expectation appears.

Hmm thought this may be the sace, interesting thing is that the older MK1 are still slling for around a grand. I know the purist think the MK1 is a better car but surely anyone else would want to go for the newer one?

I prefer the MK2, but I couldn't manage with just an MX5 and have no space for a second car. The MK1 also seems to qualify for classic insurance which makes it cheap to keep for occasional use.
