In the interest of getting things lightened up......What was the most embarrassing thing you were taken to school in? (having spotted someone earlier mention a Skoda!)

We had a Morris Marina....white (well I say white...the bits that were not rusty were white!)

A very old and moderately rusty Cortina estate. I can still smell the cheap nasty plastic vomit. Mind you most of the time I walked the 3 miles to school.

My mum's VW Polo was probably the worst. Mainly because it was pink.

Usually it was a P38 Range Rover Autobiography, then moved onto R129 SL60AMG (my personal favourite), then various AMG Mercs. Also a Golf VR6, Merc 560SEC, Mk2 Jag occasionally, Porsche 928S. So probably not really crap cars in the grand scheme of things.

If it was my parents taking me then the cars weren't embarrassing at all (Astons, Jags etc). However, if I was picked up by my grandparents on my mother's side, it was a green Austin 1100 *cringe*.

I don't think I ever went to school by car. Walk, cycle or in later years by motorbike, but if it had been in a car I'd guess Mk1 Cortina or Renault 16.

Walked to school then back for lunch and back to school and then back home.
Don't think anybody came to school in a car back in those days

I always either walked or cycled to school, parents were running a business so were long gone by the time I left for school. On the odd ocassion I went by car was if one of the neighbours picked me up if it was raining so would have been a TR7. I still remember being crammed into it along with her 2 daughters. The seat trim was a dreadful brown-beige-type tartan trim.

The only time my Dad took me to school was after lunch when I had gone home as I usually did. I cut the knuckle off my little finger opening a pack of ham so he drove me into the school nurse in his new '84 Volvo 240 GLT. I still have the car now.

Apologies for the psychology guys but during a child's upbringing you constantly create 'memory points'.

This thread exposes a few of them smile

Cant say about being taken to school because it was the trusty old bike in them days.

Last year though, whilst picking small brat up from school in the M3, we saw a spotless Sierra Saphire Cosworth.

The Mrs said " Do you remember when we had one of them?"( I had one when they first came out)

A little voice from the back of the car said. " You Had a ford Dad!"

I sometimes got a lift home in my mate's mums car. It was a Fiat 126! Think the engine was in the rear and from memory had a "Bis" badge on the back?? Would this be correct?

Interesting.....I figured half the Aston guys would have gone by horse and cart! :-p
I used to get the bus and walk so a car trip was usually when the bus didn't turn up or when I was in trouble!

I was spoiled. When I didn't walk to school, I used to get driven in a Maserati Khamsin or a Lincoln Town Car.
