Ok, ultimately a watch is worth whatever an individual is prepared to spend but there's a 2254.50 up for grabs somewhere for an asking of £1400, a clear £200 more than the last two I'd seen go through within the last 6 weeks or so. Same condition, same boxes and paperwork etc available. I know that they're sought after, I'm one of the many looking, but really?

As an owner of one I have no problem with them going up in value, not that it really matters though as it's a keeper.

I seriously love the look and size of them, I really do. And I'm pretty sure that nearer the start of the year they were going for closer to 1k.
I said in a post not too long ago that it's a bit of a grail for me, might skip it this time and scratch another itch or two beforehand, maybe... scratchchin

Sounds like someone chancing their arm to me, too much.

Have you tried a wtb on TZ? I've had good luck on there with them in the past.

I think you'll really like a Seamaster though, great size & quality.

I had thought about putting out a WTB but then I'm also not supposed to be buying unless I sell something first and, as yet, I haven't sold anything, not since the summer anyway...
I think I'm going to put the SM to one side for a while, if I do get one I'm likely to hold on to it so I think I might chop and change a few others before settling.

Incidentally, the chap who's got the SM up for grabs reckons he paid £1400 himself.

This was the first "proper watch" I bought and since have a few more including a grail IWC the seamaster still gets more wear then any of my other watches I simply adore it! I bought a glass back speedmaster after which I always loved and have only worn it twice. The seamaster looks as good on the beach as it does the boardroom. All said for 2k anyone can have it wink

I expect he probably did. I recall seeing the previous advert and I expect the seller would have got more than one PM.

I do think, however, that £1400 is a bit OTT unless it is 100% complete, in absolutely pristine condition (no minor scratches at all) and has had a recent a service. If it has any minor marks, missing a box or a link or hasn't had a service in the last 6 months, I'd not pay over £1000 depending on the buyer.

Does that mean I'm allowed to try and talk you into buying my Sharkmaster now?! I need the funds for a Rolex...

If you've got the itch, it's never going to go away.

I guess you might as well get on with it! wink

Nice try matey, nice try... hehe

Actually, I'm not that far off pulling the trigger on two other pieces, one I'm extemely interested in and the other could be a catch and release, and I will be selling a few of mine to replenish the coffers.

Which actually means that I can make you a counter offer. Why not save some money and catch yourself a certain Steinhart instead? wink

Al, I don't want to hijack the thread too much but the white Exp II on TZ has me chomping at the bit for my 30th present.

Ah, don't do that to me!!! Someone has offered me a PRS22 GMT for £300 also!!! My only dilemma is how I can have everything!!?? What else do you have your eye on?

The "extremely interested in"....

....and the possible "catch and release", not because of it's looks but because I usually prefer something larger than the 38mm that this is.

Always fancied an oil filled Sinn and a glowstick Ball, both will be for the same price as the SM.

And don't worry about hijacking the thread, I seem to have gone a bit off topic anyway laugh

Great choices both, I've never given Ball's a second look before (lol!) but that one is really nice, and you might just be surprised by a slightly smaller watch.

I might be interested in the Steinhart for my old man I'll let you know if thats ok?

Sure, no problem. TBH it hasn't had much wrist time so it'll be pretty much exactly as when you last had it, would be a shame to let it go as it's a very versatile watch.

Needs must and all that, talks are pretty advanced on the Sinn and Ball now!

Cheers!

Had to tactically arrange for delivery when SWMBO won't be about, think I've got it covered hehe

ETA that if anyone still wants to post comments about 2254.50 prices then please feel free, I feel that this thread has gone a little wayward!
