You could have knocked me down with a feather.

"is that Mr Hughes?"

"who is calling?"

"Bracknell Police. We have caught your burglar"

Bloody Hell yikes That was in January 2008.
Apparantly he was let out of jail yesterday, and immediately re-arrested. They drove him around whilst he pointed out which houses he had previously burgled. Must have found religion or summat.

Anyway, well done to our cop another one off our streets for a while

Most bizarre call I ever had from the police was when I had the S2000.

"Hello, is that Mr Butler?"

"Yep"

"This is DC X from the Murder Squad...."

Fair took me aback that one biggrin

(turned out someone had nicked a silver S2k, and cloned my plate to case someone's house, and then subsequently did them in)

One of my first CID jobs I recovered a stolen Jaguar (inspector Morse type) which had been stolen around 5 years earlier. We followed a money trail which eventually lead us to a rather large organised crime group. Arrests were made, but nothing would stick. The owner was pleased to have the car back as it was a gift from his wife (I think smile it was a long time ago)

Yup, I'm well pleased Matt, but I'd love to know his name. I have a little theory, that I might not have been a "random" victim. I don't suppose they will tell me until he has been tried in court, but I'm rather hoping i might get details of the hearing.

thumbup where have you been hiding since ? wink

I was so pleased and relieved to have the car back with just a few extra stone chips. So I had a lick of paint and a bloody great supercharger fitted to it, increasing thee 279 bhp to 425 and also producing 409 torques.

It has surprised quite a few unsuspecting drivers and passengers since then. 25k miles later, It now has pride of place in the garage alongside the grey fiat smile

I need to get it properly "run in" first Rob before i make that decision.
I always expected that it would be a keeper, but then i never expected to own a 430!

Its a decision i'll try not to rush into biggrin
